On the backdrop of the alarming rate of family problems, divorces and remarriages, His Holiness Baselios Didymus I declared October, 2009 as “Family Welfare Month”. The aim of this observance is to equip people to counter the disintegration of the institution of marriage and family, an inevitable byproduct of the western culture. His Holiness have exhorted all parishes to organize awareness programmes so as to strengthen and foster good family relations. The slogan will be “Excellent family – Exemplary Society” and the theme will be “Building a family in God’s way”. His Holiness exhorted the members of the Youth Movement and Martha Mariam Samajam to organize Retreats, Seminars, Debates and Discussions, Counseling Sessions, Family get - together and the like on the parish level under the leadership of the Vicar and Managing Committee. A website by name www.marry2love.com will also be launched very shortly under the Department of Human Resource Management of the Church to give guidance and orientation for family welfare. |
